Elementalist: Second Professions???
What would be the best second profession. I am considering monk but I would do differently if I was told so.

Every person has it's preferences. I started my elem with mesmer, which was quite good.. but I stopped using mesmer skills pretty fast (I was doing only pve)... Once I ascended I switched to Monk, and I love that. If I switch to full smithing instead of any elementalist skill, I can kill solo things easily. In PVP I soloed two warriors at the same time.. but if you can't kill your ennemy in less than 10-15 seconds.. you'll have a hard time.
It's all depending on your playing style...

That's exactly the path I took. Although once I get Mist Form, I may switch back to Mesmer so I can arcane echo it.
Question: what smiting skills do you use to solo kill things easily?

I love Balthazar Aura / Symbol of wrath for damage over 10 sec, Zealot's fire and Divine boon for dmg at every cast and Balthazar Spirit to get energy every time I get hit! And don't forget to use Horizon of healing and healing breeze for some needed healing
I saw some posts speaking of using Shield Of Judgement, but I don't have it yet.. could be really useful against warrior (knockdown + dmg when the foe hit)
I maxed out my energy storage, put 10 in smithing and the remaining in healing.
